Countdown to the Death is an arcade action game released in 1990 for the ZX Spectrum 48K. It was published by Newsfield Publications and developed by Mario de Paula Leite Gouvea from Brazil.
The game supports a single player and consists of a collection of mini-games originally featured on the cover of Crash magazine. The package includes Hangman, Bonus Machine, Bat and Ball, Memory, and Repeat-It. Players can control the action using cursor keys, Interface 2, or custom redefinable keys.
This title was not intended for general release as it served as a cover-mounted exclusive. It holds a rating of 88 in the ZXSR database, based on the May 1991 issue of Crash.
In Russia and the CIS, the game gained recognition through numerous TR-DOS versions released by groups such as Flash Inc, Rapeware Corporation, Brainwave, and Fatality. Cracked cassette versions were also available.
