This single-player shoot-'em-up features AY sound and supports Kempston joysticks or redefinable keys. The technical implementation includes a multi-loader for both 48K and 128K machine modes.
The game retailed at £9.99 on cassette. Beyond the ZX Spectrum, Galaxy Force was released on the Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, Sega Master System, Amiga, Sega Mega Drive, and Atari ST.
Reviews averaged 71.25% across four publications. Crash, The Games Machine, and Your Sinclair awarded the game between 78% and 79%, while Sinclair User provided a score of 50%.
In Russia and the CIS, the game spread through numerous TR-DOS versions released by various groups, such as Mortal Kombat Hackers Group and Brainwave. A cracked cassette version by RAF also appeared in 1990.
