Rock'n Roller was released in 1988 for the ZX Spectrum 48K. The game was published by Topo Soft and developed by a team consisting of Rafael Gomez Rodriguez, ACE, and Gominolas, with inlay and poster art provided by Antonio Perera.
As an arcade race 'n' chase title, it supports a single player and features multi-directional scrolling. Players can control the action using redefinable keys or via Kempston and Interface 2 joysticks. The game is based on the original arcade coin-op by Namco Ltd.
In the UK, the title was exclusively available through the Action Countdown compilation. The game was also ported to the Amstrad CPC and MSX platforms.
Critical reception was notably low, with Your Sinclair awarding it a 2/10 score, resulting in an average magazine rating of 20%. Despite this, user feedback has been more positive, with a weighted score of 7.42.
In Russia, the game gained popularity through numerous TR-DOS versions released by groups such as DIM, Code Busters, and SG-Team. An official Russian translation by Perestroika Software was produced, and POKE codes appeared in the local scene press. Cracked cassette versions by teams like Rajsoft and Dynamic Soft were also widely circulated.
