The Castle is a text-only adventure game released in 1983 for the ZX Spectrum 48K. It was published by Bug-Byte Software and developed by Chris Cannon.
The game is a single-player experience that relies entirely on text-based input. Players navigate the environment and solve puzzles by typing commands to interact with objects and locations within the castle.
The cassette version cost £5.95.
In Russia and the former Soviet Union, the game was well-known due to numerous TR-DOS disk adaptations. A Russian translation by SKL-Keeper appeared in 1997. The game was also featured in the magazine Deja Vu, and cracked tape versions were distributed by groups such as Fanatic Stas and C&K Company.
